Mana Tangata

Leadership

We all stand tall as leaders. We will stand with mana and ngākau pono in our choices. Our tamariki are courageous, humble, tenacious and resilient.

Kaitiakitanga

Caring for our community

We are proud of our community. We contribute to its development and well being. We celebrate our diversity.
Our tamariki know their connection to place - He Tūhoe ahau, Nō Tūhoe ahau, Kō Tūhoe ahau.

Pūmahara

Learning for our futures

Our ancestors were innovative, entrepreneurial, problem solvers and so are we!
Our tamariki have a positive sense of Māori identity - we know our ancestors were the original innovators.

Aroha

Love

Our school is a whānau. We let each member of our whānau know on a daily basis, through words and actions, that they are loved and appreciated.
Our tamariki know their whānau connections, their whakapapa.

Te Ara Piki

Te Ara Piki is a classroom step system to acknowledge good choices, our school values and provide support for negative choices. A visual classroom display will be in every classroom with all tamariki beginning at “Pī Ka Rere” everyday. Teachers and support staff will ‘notice’ deliberate student choices that reflect our school values and will move their tamariki ‘up’ our Ara Piki.

We endeavour to support positive behaviour choices by providing our tamariki with strategies for managing their emotions, language, behaviour and responses to stress and conflict.  We use a range of programmes (such as Zones of Regulation) relevant to their age and stage of learning across the school.  We strive to be models of positive behaviour for our tamariki.
